Botox & Dysport

You Are in good hands

What is Botox?

Both BOTOX® and DYSPORT® injections are intended to temporarily relax facial muscles that cause wrinkles. As one of the most recognized aesthetic products in the world,  BOTOX® has remained one of the leading procedures in aesthetics and can be used as a preventative or corrective measure to improve the look of moderate to severe facial lines.

These neuromodulator injections have become the most popular cosmetic treatment in North America with millions of treatments performed annually. BOTOX® and DYSPORT® injections are not just for women, they are also the most popular cosmetic procedure among men who want to look more relaxed and refreshed. TBT Medical & Aesthetics cares about your safety and efficacy and offers only Health Canada approved prescription neuromodulators.

How does Botox work?

BOTOX® / DYSPORT® reduces signals from the nerves to the muscles just where it is injected so the muscle can’t contract fully. Once these muscles are weakened, they can’t make the movements that cause lines and wrinkles. This will soften your current wrinkles as well as prevent future ones. Don’t worry, you can still make positive facial expressions, but they may not be as exaggerated.

After several months, the muscles slowly regain full activity, and it will be time for a follow up treatment.

How does Botox help?

These injections can help you achieve a smoother more relaxed look by reducing:

  • Crows feet next to your eyes
  • Forehead lines
  • Frown Lines (angry 11’s)
  • Marionette lines (lines around your mouth)
  • Barcode or Smokers Lines (fine lines surrounding lip area)
  • Neck Lines
  • Chest Wrinkles
  • Dimpled Chin Area (orange peel skin)

Frequently Asked Questions

Are BOTOX® and DYSPORT® safe?

BOTOX® has been licensed in Canada since 1990 as a safe and effective treatment for a variety of medical conditions and in 2001 it was approved by Health Canada for cosmetic use. An estimated 17 million treatments have been performed in North America and it has received a 97% satisfaction rate among users. It continues to be one of the most widely researched medicines in the world.

Is BOTOX® botulism (food poisoning)?

BOTOX® Cosmetic® and DYSPORT® are not botulism, or food poisoning. They are purified, stabilized proteins taken from the botulinum bacteria, and have a known safety record that has been proven through extensive testing.

Is BOTOX® tested on animals?

No. Allergan has spent a great deal of time and money developing a cell-based potency assay to replace an animal-based assay in the ongoing manufacturing of BOTOX®.

Are there any side effects or complications from using BOTOX® or DYSPORT®?

A few common side effects include a small amount of discomfort, temporary bruising, and transient headaches. More rare and unexpected side effects include infection at the injection site, temporary eyelid or eyebrow drooping (3% of injections), and allergic response.

Will I still have facial expressions after using BOTOX® or DYSPORT®?

BOTOX® and DYSPORT® are intended to enhance the way you look, not change it. When properly administered you can still smile and be expressive.

How long does a BOTOX® or DYSPORT® treatment take?

After the consultation process the procedure itself only takes about 20 minutes.

How soon will I see a difference? How long does a BOTOX® or DYSPORT® treatment last?

You can expect to see results within days after your treatment. The results from BOTOX® or DYSPORT® are not permanent but your youthful appearance will last from 3-4 months. After repeated regular treatments, the effects may begin to last longer.

Can everyone use BOTOX® and DYSPORT®?

Most people between the ages of 18 and 65 can use BOTOX® and DYSPORT®. Those who are pregnant, breastfeeding, have a neuromuscular disorder such as Myasthenia Gravis, Lambert-Eaton Syndrome or amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS or Lou Gehrig’s disease) should not use BOTOX® and DYSPORT®. If you are currently taking or likely to be taking IV antibiotics in the near future your treatments should be postponed.

Are there creams that work just as well as BOTOX®?

There is no scientific evidence that supports that creams work just as well or better than BOTOX®. Creams work on or in the skin, while BOTOX® and DYSPORT® target the muscles underneath.

How do I know if I need BOTOX® or dermal fillers?

If your wrinkles appear only with expression a BOTOX® or DYSPORT® treatment is recommended. If grooves and folds are present even when your face is at rest, fillers may be indicated to smooth out these areas. Often a combination of BOTOX® or DYSPORT® and dermal fillers is recommended to achieve the best results.

If I stop using BOTOX® or DYSPORT® will I look worse than I did before?

No, if you stop receiving injections facial aging will simply start to develop from that point onwards. There will be no cumulative aging effect from the time that you started receiving treatments to the time you stopped.
